Lost In Kiev presents new EP 'Nuit Noire'

LOST IN KIEV was born 8 years ago, driven by the will to create an epic music that would keep a rock energy.

After several tours a first Ep and a split recording with Zero Absolu (one man post rock band), one member leaves the band, that decides to go on as a four-piece act. Losing the guy in charge of all samples and electronics would allow the band to reinvent itself : keyboards and samples are now be alternately handled by the guitar player, the bass player and the drummer, injecting a new creative energy to the band. Today, the band is back with a new story, new words written with dark melodies and hovering : There new Ep "Nuit Noire"

About ....

Nuit Noire deals with the loss of bearings through several aspects, being hypnosis, death, dreams... The characters created by Lost in Kiev first meet, then split up, and both of them will discover the unknown - so to say their own Black Night (« Nuit Noire » in French).

First two songs of the album both use present tense to speak about the characters and their condition. Following songs are flashbacks explaining how did they get there. That's the reason why the samples at the end of the last song create a loop with those at the beginning of the opening track.

The theme of the album itself leads the band to help the listener travel through dark or dreamlike atmospheres : « We wanted to sound more tribal on a couple of songs like « Narcosis » or « Emersion », with a lot of toms, tambourine, backing voices and hypnotic loops ».

This time, the sampled parts were created collectively, contrary to Motions on which a sole member was in charge of electronics. That brought more diversity to samples and also revealed another side of the album : its electronic universe. « All of this has been widely reinforced by our producer Anthony Josse who added a lot of subtlety in terms of sonic textures. He was re-working our sound with pedals, tape delays, or even by using vintage Akaï gear as he did on the drum loop in the middle of « Emersion » ».
