Berthaju releases track Catphone
Dutch-German indie-punk band BERTHAJU have released their new single CATPHONE today. The track is taken from their upcoming EP, which is set for release later this year.
On CATPHONE, BERTHAJU draw inspiration from electronic influences, adding a sleazy edge to their signature grungy guitar sound. The song channels their frustration with being harassed by men in public spaces, though it does so with a healthy dose of irony. In the band's own words:
“Catcalling just isn’t what it used to be! And that’s why we felt the urge to provide the solution for all the suffering men out there. With that, we present the brand new CATPHONE. Containing the right amount of humorous energy and an updated Feminism 2.0. Leave your lonely days behind, and find your love on the line.”
BERTHAJU continued their rise as one of the most promising indie acts of 2025. They released their EP Tickets To The Cinema and completed a successful run through the Dutch touring festival Popronde. The band also crossed the Channel for the first time to perform shows in the UK and supported acts such as Bilk, Min Taka, and Overpass. Earlier this year, they toured Germany and will soon return to stages across the Netherlands.
