Music Business Podcast Offers Fellow Indie Artists a DIY Perspective

With so much in constant flux with the modern music industry, it can be daunting for both veteran and newbie. Artists always seem to be the last to know when it comes to changes within, often leaving them behind the eight ball with current trends and models. The music business podcast, The Cosmick Voice, returns November 15th for its fifth season run. Hosted by singer Chis Natalini (Execution Order, former Blood Feast) and guitarist Mick Michaels (Corners of Sanctuary), the show focuses on the artist's perspective as it relates to the ever-changing tide in the music world and is relayed through a variety of sources, firsthand accounts and personal experiences from the hosts themselves.

"What started out as an idea from a peer, fellow musician and most importantly a good friend has now moved into its 5th Season,” said co-host Natalini. “The Cosmick Voice is and will continue to be a podcast about the business side of music coming from the learned lessons of two musicians who have done it all and have a combined 60 plus years in the business of music."

"The show is about the artist's journey," says co-host Michaels. "It's a conversation between two old friends who've spent the better part of their own lives navigating through an endless barrage of personal industry ups and downs. For us, it's a show about being in the trenches and how we survived...it's therapy...we just hope to pass on some survival techniques to others who may be looking."

Over the last four seasons, the show has talked in great depths of the growing struggle artists and bands are currently facing to not only find an audience, but to perform and compete in the now, over-saturated market. Taking on current and long term topics such as streaming services, self promotion, music's current value and the post pandemic situation just to name a few, The Cosmick Voice looks to provide some alternative thinking tactics to the growing indie nation.

"The show is definitely geared towards those artists who have followed the beat of their own drummer," Michaels added. "Our goal is to offer a realistic perspective while keeping things positive.”
