Natasha Pirard: new single l'éclat from upoming album

Ahead of the full album release November 21st, Natasha Pirard shares second single ‘L’éclat' - a moving reflection on memory, motherhood, and the brightness of new love. First headline show on the 12th of December at Botanique, Brussels.

Natasha Pirard’s 'L’éclat', tells another personal tale: "I enrolled in the Musicology department at the University of Ghent, and my mother met someone to whom she’d lose her heart to. To witness her falling in love again was such a beautiful moment, especially after more than ten years of being alone. L’éclat is French for brightness, a certain radiance. And I’m grateful to have been at the front row to see this develop in what is now a new, warm and loving home

After a period of musical experimentation and film scores, Natasha Pirard returns with Fernande, Cecile, her most personal and intuitive project to date. The album is a diptych dedicated to her mother and late grandmother, two women who had a profound influence on her life.

Side one, Fernande, focuses on memories of her grandmother, whom she lost at a young age. The compositions explore the transience of memory and are imbued with the impact of Alzheimer's, the disease her grandmother suffered from. Side two, Cecile, is dedicated to the care and resilience of her mother, a constant support in Natasha's life.

The inspiration for the album came during a conversation with her mother, who told Natasha: ‘If I get this disease one day, don't forget that I'm still here (inside).’ This intimate moment forms the emotional core of the project.

Musically, Pirard combines her voice, violin, synthesiser and field recordings into a layered, fragile whole in which personal memories and universal themes such as loss, love and remembrance come together. The compositions move in fragments – sounds, loops, textures – that take you to scenes from her childhood: a blooming garden, the light on blackberry bushes, the chirping of her grandmother's favourite bird.

Fernande, Cecile is both a musical tribute to two women and a broader reflection on motherhood, memory and the traces left behind by care and devotion.
