Sha-La-Lees announce new album "Midnight Crying"

Some bands play rock ’n’ roll. Sha-La-Lees live it. In 2026, the Belgian four-piece returns with Midnight Crying. Songs straight from the heart: for Sha-La-Lees, it’s all about the essence of rock ’n’ roll.

Following Garbage Dreams (2023) and Hex (2025), the band opens a new chapter. Midnight Crying was recorded at DAFT Studios, self-produced by the band and mixed by Alain Johannes, known for his work with Queens of the Stone Age, Chris Cornell and Them Crooked Vultures. Johannes was impressed by both the songwriting and the band’s musical craftsmanship.

With roots in bands such as The Sore Losers, El Guapo Stuntteam, The Kik, The Spades and The Hydromatics, Sha-La-Lees draw on a deep love of garage, rhythm & blues, beat and raw, unpolished rock ’n’ roll. Think Dead Moon, MC5, Reigning Sound and Love, but with a distinctive identity of their own. No retro exercise, just timeless songs.

The band has played festivals such as Zwarte Cross, Jera On Air, Rock Herk, Sjock Festival, Cosmic Trip and Les Nuits Botanique, and shared stages with the likes of The Hives and The Datsuns. With their high-energy live shows, they are steadily building an international following.

In October 2026, the band will head to Japan for the first time. Meanwhile, Sha-La-Lees are setting their sights firmly on France, Germany and Scandinavia.

With Midnight Crying, the four-piece proves that rock ’n’ roll is very much alive and kicking. As long as there are bands writing songs like these and playing them with heart and soul, rock ’n’ roll is in good hands.
