Novalima Releases La Danza EP Part 2
On the new EPs La Danza Part 1 & 2, Novalima has collaborated with a new generation of artists who’ve reinterpreted their African Heritage. And sonically they experimented with both emerging sounds coming out of Peru and the world. All while paying homage to their African heritage as well as traditional African grooves and instruments. Collabs include Dom La Nena, Man After Man, Karolinativa, Pahua, Hit La Rosa, and Pablo Watusi!

Part 2 comes out on the heels of the new single, "Soy Palenque", which showcases the vocals of Karolinativa, a Peruvian MC that vindicates Afro-Peruvian identity through her lyrics. Also featured are Mexican dub jazz duo Man After Man, who brought an electrifying brass ensemble to the track.
In their latest EPs, La Danza Part 1 & 2, Novalima embarks on a captivating musical journey, collaborating with a new generation of artists who skillfully reinterpret their African heritage. The sonic landscape of these albums serves as a fascinating playground for experimentation and dives into the emerging sounds of Peru and the global music scene. While embracing contemporary elements, Novalima maintains a deep reverence for their African roots, weaving in traditional African rhythms and instruments. Part 1 of this EP series has garnered well-deserved critical acclaim from respected outlets like Remezcla and Sounds and Colours, while also making waves on charts at influential stations such as KCRW and KEXP. Part 2 continues to deliver the heat with songs like "Soy Palenque" featuring Karolinativa and Man After Man, "Amanecer," and "Mil Noches" featuring Pahua.
Coming off their North American tour the band comments, “We’ve been aiming to export Peruvian culture through our music over the past 20 years, and so far we’ve been blessed by playing all over the world and meeting new great artists, who’ve somehow inspired our growth in music and our own artistic evolution. We are proud to be able to still go on the road with our family: our amazing live band, and this year we plan to take over new audiences to spread even more our music to younger crowds through our live concerts, which is an exhilarating dance experience.”
During their career, Novalima has garnered worldwide critical acclaim from mainstream (NPR, UK Guardian, Wall Street Journal, La Presse, Metro, Billboard) and underground media (Giant Step, Remezcla, Sounds & Colors, Nat Geo) alike, delivered legendary performances around the world at festivals such as Roskilde, WOMAD, Pirineos Sur, NYC Central Park, Montreal Jazz Festival and Chicago’s Millennium Park, earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album, and were featured in cult filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s hit Mexploitation movie Machete.
