Pelican Dealer releases first single ‘New Frustrations’ from their debut EP ‘Tragic Dancing’
After several separate releases, the moment has finally arrived for Pelican Dealer: their long-awaited debut EP ‘Tragic Dancing’ is on its way. But before that happens, the Mulier brothers treat us to the first single ‘New Frustrations’ of the EP, which will be available on all streaming platforms from 22 November 2024.
Pelican Dealer, the band formed around Leuven-based brothers Mats and Jasper Mulier, knows how to effortlessly translate nocturnal escapist atmospheres into revved-up, piercing riffs and catchy choruses like no other. The band is known for their vibrant and boisterous live shows, which wake everyone up. To top it off, they played their very first show as support at a sold-out Ancienne Belgique. Since then, their name has been established in the Belgian music scene. With shows supporting acts like Xink, RHEA and Noordkaap, and with support from radio stations like StuBru, Radio 1 and Kink FM, they confirmed their reputation. In 2023, they were crowned Sound Track Laureates and featured at several festivals, including Suikerrock.Pelican Dealer's music is an unmistakable mix of alternative rock with subtle pop influences: raw, raucous, and filthy, yet unmistakably playful and catchy. This tension runs like a thread through their work, and is evident in ‘New Frustrations’. The track takes a cynical look at a society where losing yourself for the sake of superficial trends seems to be the norm.
Their EP ‘Tragic Dancing’ explores this theme on multiple layers. Their debut is not only about losing and finding yourself, but also about the appeal of rebellion - seeking danger and the tension that comes with it. On ‘Tragic Dancing’, the brothers dance with the tragedy that life is and relish the tension it evokes.
