Hearts Apart: “You Are Not Alone” is the new single, an anthem to standing together through the hardest times

After exploring the struggle of leaving a relationship behind with “(Not) So Easy”, HEARTS APART return with “You Are Not Alone”, the second single from Xanax, Dramas & Rock’n’roll, their upcoming album out November 20, 2026 via Epidemic Records. A song that puts sarcasm and frenzy aside for a moment to remind us just how much simply being there for someone can mean.

On a record filled with anxiety, complicated relationships, frustration and the everyday disasters of modern life, Hearts Apart find a moment to stop and look beyond their own personal chaos. “You Are Not Alone” comes from exactly that place: the ability, far from being a given, to recognize someone else's pain even when you're already struggling to deal with your own.

There are no grand statements or easy fixes here. Instead, there's the idea that sharing a difficult moment can make it a little more bearable. That sometimes it's not about finding the right words, but about showing up, standing beside someone without feeling the need to fix everything.

Musically, “You Are Not Alone” also marks an interesting departure from the nervous, straight-to-the-point punk rock we've come to expect from the Vicenza four-piece. The pace slows down, the sound opens up, and a distinctly '90s spirit emerges, with echoes of the American East Coast. It's another side of Hearts Apart's sound, one that gives the song more room to breathe without sacrificing any of its intensity.

The band explain the meaning behind the song:

“We're caught up in all this Xanax, all these dramas and all this rock'n'roll, in this whirlwind of fragile hearts that our own fragile hearts are trying to make sense of. But can we actually stop everything from spinning when we realize someone we care about is struggling? That's where ‘You Are Not Alone’ comes in.

The simple, unwavering solidarity of shared pain as a way of healing each other. Far removed from slogans and clichés, close to what really matters: being there, physically, side by side. It's the ray of light and defiance running through our latest album, a slower, more East Coast-inspired anthem than the rest of the songs, with a distinctly '90s feel. Almost like post-rock from New Jersey colliding with Samiam.

And if you ever find yourself singing ‘hold on and never give up’ while pointing a finger and a smile at your own reflection in the mirror, well, that's pretty damn special.”

Perhaps that final image captures the song's meaning better than anything else. Because reminding someone they're not alone sometimes means finding a way to tell yourself the very same thing. Without empty rhetoric or pretending that a chorus can magically make everything better.

Twelve songs where punk rock, power pop, garage, rock'n'roll and emo influences intertwine with stories of emotional instability, desire, alienation and the struggle to navigate everyday life. It's a record that doesn't pretend to have the answers, but stubbornly keeps searching for something worth getting out of bed for, leaving the house for, and maybe singing along to with somebody else.

Active since 2018, Hearts Apart have built a musical identity where the urgency of punk rock meets infectious melodies, garage rock'n'roll and a healthy dose of self-deprecating humour. Following Number One To No One (2021), Bang! Wrong Again and the subsequent release of both EPs as a single LP, the band released Summer Bummer in February 2025 via Epidemic Records, an EP born from the wreckage of a romantic relationship.

The new album marks the continuation of their collaboration with the label and another step forward for a band that, between shows across Europe and writing new material, continues to find in rock'n'roll a way to explore the contradictions of adult life without holding much back.

Recorded and mixed by Marco Degli Esposti at Happenstance Recording Studio and mastered by Maurizio “Icio” Baggio at La Distilleria Produzioni Musicali, Xanax, Dramas & Rock’n’roll will be released on November 20, 2026.

With “You Are Not Alone”, Hearts Apart remind us that we can't always pull ourselves out of trouble on our own. And that perhaps, before even looking for a way out, it's worth making sure nobody has to face it alone.
