Tornado Lobster Killer, “Rhya”: when fragility becomes resistance

After the sarcastic urgency of Pay To Play, Tornado Lobster Killer return to explore a more intimate and vulnerable side of their universe with Rhya, the second single taken from Lobsteria, their new album.

While the first single focused on the contradictions of the punk/hardcore scene, Rhya turns inward, into a quieter yet equally unsettling space. It is a deeply personal track, written and arranged by Matteo, born from a period marked by job instability, lack of prospects, and that subtle but persistent feeling of failure which, over time, risks eroding all vital momentum.

The lyrics are a lucid and disarming reflection on the weight of choices, the sense of unfulfilled potential, and how, at a certain point, life can seem to shrink into the memory of who we once were - or how others saw us. Yet within this void, Rhya opens a crack: the face of memory that gives the song its title belongs to someone very dear, with whom a path of existential pain was shared, and who is now distant. The song moves between dedication and search, between loss and the need for reconnection, suggesting that even in the deepest despair, human bonds remain a possible form of salvation.

From a sonic perspective, the track fits into TLK’s evolving path, as with Lobsteria they push their sound toward tighter, faster territories closer to melodic hardcore, without giving up the emotional tension and expressive urgency that have always defined them. In this balance, Rhya stands as one of the most intense and layered moments of the record.

True to the band’s DIY attitude, the single is entirely self-produced: recorded, mixed and mastered at Cristian Masiero Music Studio (with the bass track recorded at HP Music Studio in Ringwood, UK), once again confirming Tornado Lobster Killer’s desire to maintain full control over every step of their artistic journey.

Accompanying the release is a lyric video conceived, shot and edited by Croma, translating the suspended and melancholic atmosphere of the track into images, further enhancing its emotional impact.

The single artwork is a photograph by Nora, while the graphics were created by Croma, underlining a cohesive artistic vision that is entirely internal to the band.

Active since 2018 and raised within the underground scene with a radically independent approach, Tornado Lobster Killer continue with Lobsteria to build an increasingly defined identity: a band capable of blending social critique and introspection, anger and fragility, without ever losing coherence.
