There’s something deep inside of me, there’s someone else I’ve got to be... say the lyrics of Rex Rebel’s new single, a cover version of George Michael’s Freedom. Although the song has been around for 30 years, its message is as relevant as ever, speaking to the need to break away from conventions and expectations which are pushed upon us by society.

Always tricky to do a cover version of a hit song like this, but Rex Rebel succeeds in not only honoring the original vibe, but giving it his own flavor and turning it into a big bass driven single that’s going to put you in the best mood and make you want to dance. Note the nod to Tina Turner as well.

The band shot and edited their own video, long distance due to Corona-restrictions, and managed to add even more excitement to the tune. As new and fresh as this band is, this is classic Rex Rebel: original, fun and very musical.
