Sickrecy releases "Salvation Through Tyranny"
is not about pushing any boundaries in the race of speed, nastiness, or new techniques. We are just about... delivering solid grindcore! Swedish grindcore act Sickrecy, short for sick-secrecy, meaning that we as people under our rulers are on a need-to-know basis and we clearly don’t need to know anything but to obey and pay, was formed in late 2019/early 2020 by Martin Eriksson who soon teamed up with Marcus Dahl and Adde Mitroulis to make the foundation of Sickrecy.
Adde Mitroulis, well known from bands such as Birdflesh and General Surgery is no stranger in this line of duty, With numerous albums on his conscience and three releases in 2021, he clearly knows how to handle a microphone and his vocals are significant to the sound of Sickrecy. Marcus Dahl and Martin Eriksson hail from the crust and death act World in Ruins and the blackened industrial death metal band Damned to Downfall, who both put out albums in 2021. You could say that Sickrecy is somewhat of a blend between all of our four bands but the main inspiration comes from the early 90’s underground scene.
In July 2021 we released our 6 track EP "First World Anxiety", which is a meltingpot of all the things that we are about. It includes the fast, extreme and the blasts mixed with crust, d-beat and death metal. The lyrics cuts through with social awareness and topics like a decreasing free speech, intolerance and the problems with globalization are all being
In 2022 we joined forces with SELFMADEGOD rec to release our first full-length album, Salvation through tyranny, on cd. The tape version will once again be released by Bullwhip rec. Just in case Cannibal Corpse thought that they were going to romp unopposed to the death metal title in 2021, along comes Sickrecy... It’s abundantly clear that First World Anxiety is the product of experienced hands, well used to crafting such a deliciously diabolic noise - Dan Barnes from the Razors edge 2021.
Most importantly, it’s a rock solid little ripper, six songs in 17 minutes, which is positively epic by grindcore standards and sometimes a good ass-kicking is all that you really need - Andrew Edmunds from Your last rites 2021. First World Anxiety is a blazing, violent eruption of pissed-off attitude, gnarled, infectious riffs, and wily songwriting smarts. In this respect, Sickrecy nails some key points to successful grind. Overall, First World Anxiety is a wonderfully fun 16 min hellride, presenting a classy, first-rate example of oldschool grind, constructing a robust platform for greater things to come - Angry metal guy 2022.
the title track are assaulted with such gusto that you’ll stop barking out the names of bands the track reminds you of after about ten seconds to get involved in the more pressing task of thrashing around your living quarters highlight nomination is pretty redundant when every track delivers what is intended by it’s progenitors in spades. Up the punx, and more power to Sickrecy - more soon please - Sentinel daily 2021....
Sickrecy are quick on their feet and effortlessly flow between grind, death and crust (d-beats, of course always elevate whatever they’re involved in), and they write really good songs. Sometimes it’s as simple as that - Toilet of hell 2021
