Stan Vreeken gives a tribute to his youth in new single 'Like That'

It will be a great summer! At least, if it's up to Stan Vreeken. The singer, guitarist, songwriter and theater maker has been busy last year. As a result, the summer is fully planned with more than sixty shows, three new performances and a debut album. The adventure starts off with his first single 'Like That', to be released on July 2nd.

'Like That' is a tribute to Stan’s youth in the eighties and nineties. When the phone was still stuck to the wall, you went to school with a discman in your oversized pants and the youth was still playing on their SEGA. The production has a cheerful kind of nostalgia, and its laidback blues guitars, off-beat synthesizers and strong pop melodies make you think of Robert Palmer, J.J. Cale, and Hall & Oates.

Debut album 'Just Like That'

'Like That' is the first single of Stan's almost similar titled debut album 'Just Like That'. It is his first full-length self-produced album, but he already released three EPs. Stan was inspired - with a lot of childish enthusiasm - by the songsmiths, the synth-pop and the blue-eyed soul he heard in his youth.

Stan Vreeken

Stan Vreeken is a creative in heart and soul. After finishing his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam he wrote for many (pop) artists, including Ruben Hein, Do, Guusje, Tania Kross and Friday. In the recent years he has made a name for himself in the theater as a composer, performer, singer and lyricist. He performed his own music theater performances at major festivals such as the Operadagen Rotterdam, the Parade and Oerol, and worked with people such as Pepijn Gunneweg (The Ashton Brothers), Gijs Naber and Erik Whien. Until 2015, Stan was the frontman and songwriter of the band The Big Hunger. He has been releasing his music under his own name since 2017.

Live

Stan will be playing his own theatrical concert 'Lonesome George' at Theater Festival de Parade this summer, which is about the last specimens of extinct (animal) species. He is also performing in the plays 'The Boy Whose Name Was Everything' and 'Het Spektakel', for which he also wrote the lyrics and music, at various locations in the country.
