Stan Vreeken releases his new debut album 'Just Like That' on October 1st

Stan Vreeken will release his debut album 'Just Like That' on October 1st. Stan was inspired - with a lot of childish enthusiasm - by the songsmiths, the synth-pop and the blue-eyed soul he heard in his youth. Stan wrote and produced this album with childlike enthusiasm and with a full-grown sense for harmony and lyrics. His productions sound like a box full of colored pencils, carefully tipped over. Of course with a lot of room for the strong imagination and light-hearted lyrics that characterize Stan as a songwriter.

Stan Vreeken is a creative through and through. After finishing his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam he wrote for many well known Dutch (pop) artists, including Ruben Hein, Do, Guusje, Tania Kross and FRIDAY. In the recent years he has made a name for himself in theater as a composer, performer, singer and lyricist. He performed his own music theater performances at major festivals among which Operadagen Rotterdam, Parade and Oerol, and worked with people such as Pepijn Gunneweg (The Ashton Brothers), Gijs Naber and Erik Whien. Until 2015 Stan was frontman and songwriter of the band The Big Hunger. He has been releasing music under his own name since 2017.

"I wrote and produced 'Just Like That' with the strict assignment to myself to have fun and say 'yes' to every idea that made me happy or excited. I wanted it to be an album that would be born out of playfulness from start to finish, but also come straight from my heart. And I think I have succeeded in that assignment. I'm happy and proud of this album and I think it sounds like me: a confident dreamer - sometimes quirky, sometimes melancholic - who is very serious about enjoying stuff and deals with serious matters as lightly as possible." - Stan Vreeken

Through falling ice cream-cones, Cinderella, swamp-monsters, Buzz Aldrin and dinosaurs, Stan talks about love, emotional shortcomings, women's liberation, addiction and mourning. In addition, Stan manages to impress vocally in his own distinctly modest and sympathetic way, flanked by a rich variety of great Dutch musicians such as Maarten Hogenhuis, Jasper Slijderink (Jett Rebel, Duncan Laurence) and Jelle Huiberts (Kovacs, Jeangu Macrooy) who joined him on this album. Stan played many shows with his own theater-performance Lonesome George at Theater Festival de Parade (a show about the last living (animal) species who are gone extinct). He also performed with The Boy Whose Name Was Everything and Het Spektakel, for which he also wrote the lyrics and music, at various locations in the country.
