Summer Camp reveal ‘Bad Love’ Video

Summer Camp have revealed the video for the first single ‘Bad Love’, taken from the forthcoming album of the same name, released on 25 May via Moshi Moshi Records. Watch it via the AV Club here.

The video was directed by Luke Snellin, known for TV shows like Banana and The Job Lot and features Jeremy and Elizabeth as teen movie idols; "We had the idea to make something along the lines of an American teen horror flick like Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer, but where the real evil isn't a faceless killer but the darkness in a human relationship.” Shot it at Elstree Studios, where Star Wars and The Shining were made, the clip brings that classic 90s horror movie back to life and perfectly captures the nostalgic spirit of ‘Bad Love’.

Luke was also able to bring in two talented young actors he had previously worked with, Bill Milner (who played the lead in Son of Rambow and the young Magneto in X-Men: First Class) and rising star Jessica Barden (Far From The Madding Crowd, Tamara Drewe).

Since releasing 2013’s acclaimed self titled Summer Camp, the dynamic London duo found time to write the soundtrack for Charlie Lynne’s well received documentary Beyond Clueless, a study on the American teenage movie and a “hypnotic, narcotic and dreamlike cine-essay about the contemporary American teen movie phenomenon” (The Guardian). The soundtrack perfectly reflected the teen angst and dreamlike quality of the film and in no small way paved the way for their cinematic new album Bad Love.

Six years into their career, Summer Camp undeniably have their own gorgeous, romantic niche. Bad Love is a testament to them recognising that and seizing the opportunity to use their powers to their fullest extent. The band that originally made their fans reminisce about a past they never experienced, are looking firmly forward.

Summer Camp have announced a string of acoustic in-stores later this month, including Rough Trade East on 27 May. The pair have sold out their headline show at The Victoria in London on 1 June and have announced they will play the Village Underground on 29 September.
