Sylvie Kreusch releases "Comic Trip"

Belgian star Sylvie Kreusch releases ‘Comic Trip (Deluxe)’ album. Sylvie Kreusch has released Comic Trip (Deluxe), the expanded version of the Belgian artist’s acclaimed sophomore album Comic Trip. For this project, Sylvie introduces four new songs, including the latest singles "Cloud 9" and "Crack My Mind."

The new material on this Deluxe edition captures the spirit of adventure that typifies Comic Trip, but also harkens back to the seductive, dark imagination of Sylvie's earlier work—specifically in songs like "Seedy Tricks" and "Please To Devon." The stirring "Justice Breeze" tells the story of a group of female pirates taking revenge on a man who mistreated them.

"I found it really interesting to talk about female pirates, because there's little mention of them in history books, like Mary Read and Anne Bonny," Sylvie says of the song. "It was really fun to write in such a visual way, and it also ties in well with Comic Trip as an album."

Comic Trip (Deluxe) also includes a cover version of "Storybook Children," originally performed by Dries Holten and Sandra Reemer in 1968. Sylvie drew further inspiration from Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's version—a combination of romantic flair and childlike innocence that seamlessly aligns with the style and theme behind Comic Trip. "We hadn't done many covers before, and I really liked this one because it could just as easily have been a song I'd written for Comic Trip, so it was a great match."

After a successful summer of festivals—with shows at Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, End of the Road, and Lowlands, among others—Sylvie will be playing several club shows this fall in Berlin, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, among others. The list of upcoming shows can be found below.
