The Goddess Party to “Cast A Spell” on the Presidential Election. Perform "The Parting of the Veils" at Basilica Hudson on 11.1

Hudson, NY — Following a trio of sold-out performances at Opus 40 in Saugerties, and two at Kingston’s historic Old Dutch Church, The Goddess Party (TGP) returns with their newest performance titled "The Parting of the Veils." The group is set to mesmerize audiences on Friday, November 1st at Basilica Hudson, located at 110 Front St, Hudson, NY.

The show features TGP's impressive 40-women, Hudson-Valley-based art choir. They are backed by a dynamic all-female six-piece rock band which includes Cristina Martinez (Boss Hog) on drums and Betsy Wright (ExHex) on Guitar. Audiences can expect to hear a wide variety of musical genres, from original compositions to Bulgarian field songs to punk anthems by the likes of Le Tigre and PJ Harvey. The performance is enhanced with thematic visuals, choreographed movements, immersive lighting, and custom-designed costumes and props.

The Goddess Party emerged in 2023 from a simple idea: to invite those wishing to experience powerful goddess energy to come together and “just sing.” What has resulted is a fiery community collective in the Hudson Valley that fosters deep connections through in-person collaboration and shared artistic expressions.

"The Parting of the Veils" is more than just a musical performance—it is a call for women to rise to power and cast a spell on the Presidential election that will take place just 4 days after their performance. The group will perform in a circle, thereby creating a transformative area inside the venue's expansive space. Shana Falana (Project Producer/Director)

Shana Falana is an accomplished songwriter, performer, and community advocate who is originally from San Francisco and has been based in the Hudson Valley since 2008.

With over 25 years of experience in music and public service, Shana has made meaningful contributions to her community. She has led 12-step meetings in jails and institutions across Ulster County, with a focus on supporting women. In the early years of the O Festival, she played a pivotal role in its coordination alongside the Festival Director. She also co-founded the “I Want What SHE Has” radio show on Radio Kingston. Her latest initiative, The Goddess Party, aims to empower women through music and performance, achieving notable success with sold-out shows at Opus 40 and the Old Dutch Church.

Shana’s current work is dedicated to elevating women in their perimenopausal and menopausal years, both performers and non-performers, and increasing the visibility of aging women on stage. Through her artistic and social practice, she is transforming perceptions of what women over fifty can look and act like.

Rachel Brennecke (Artistic Director)

Rachel Brennecke received her BFA from the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2007. Raised by generations of artists, Rachel began immersing herself in fashion and art in New York and Europe at the age of fourteen. She has since mentored under artists Peter Beard, Marina Abramovic, and Gilles Bensimon; performed at The Museum of Modern Art for Marina Abramović, Deitch Projects for Vanessa Beecroft, and Performa 09 in Mother Earth Sister Moon. As a performer and photographer her personal work has always centered around female objectification, modern beauty ideals, and ritual.

Rachel has lived in the Hudson Valley since 2013, coming Upstate to be close to her grandmother, sculptor Donna Byars, who was one of the original members of the first female owned and run gallery in NYC, A.I.R. It was in Accord that she met Shana, and they began working together creatively on music videos for Shana Falana.
