The premiere of “Last Resort” by Papa Roach x Kayzo

Today marks the premiere of “Last Resort” by Papa Roach x Kayzo—a boundary-breaking remix of the 2000 alt-metal smash.

The track is the first in a series of releases reimagining iconic songs from the Geffen Records catalog. Launched in 1980, Geffen Records has been home to dozens of culture-shaping artists, including Aerosmith, Beck, Mary J. Blige, Guns N’ Roses, Snoop Dogg, Weezer, and Neil Young. Throughout 2018, Geffen Records will release at least a half-dozen remixes of classic tracks by the legendary artists who have graced its roster over the years.

On the “Last Resort” remix, L.A.-based DJ/producer Kayzo brings a whole new intensity to the unforgettably furious anthem, building up the track with massive drops and frenetic synth lines.

“When the idea came about to collaborate on ‘Last Resort’ and give it my own sound, I was completely blown away,” says Kayzo. “Papa Roach, among a handful of other bands, were really influential to me in my early teens when I really didn’t know anything about life. To be able to now be in a collaboration with the band still blows my mind.”

Kayzo’s update of “Last Resort” was met with much enthusiasm from Papa Roach, who included the original version on their platinum-selling debut album Infest. “When we heard Kayzo’s remix of ‘Last Resort,’ we knew audiences all over the world would go off to this!” says the ba President of Geffen Records. “These Geffen Remixes coming over the next few months are an experiment in the combination of those sounds. I think it’s going to pave the way for a new direction in Rock which we couldn’t be more excited about.”
