The Radar Station Announce Second Album 'Birds Of Choice' - out 12 September
Today The Radar Station announces its second studio album, 'Birds Of Choice', which will be released on September 12 via V2 Records. Birds Of Choice is the follow up to their debut album 'Life Inside A Tornado', which the band released after winning Studio Brussels De Nieuwe Lichting in 2020. Last week they shared a brand new single with the world called 'Where Will You Go', listen here or watch the videoclip here.
After Brent Beukelaere's successful dutch solo album 'Ramen Als Ogen' (2024), a few years of reflection and several late night writing sessions in the south of France, The Radar Station is back! Although there is a gap of five years between the first and second album, there has been passionately worked on 'Birds Of Choice' behind the scenes. The new album is produced by Koen Gisen (The Bony King Of Nowhere, Oscar & The Wolf, Nordmann) and reflects a more mature and straightforward band.
Songs like 'Where Will You Go?' and 'January Colours', capture a band embracing change. Each track is its own journey, blending Cliquet’s expansive sonic landscape with introspective lyrics by Buckler, whose unique warm voice infuse the songs with an extraordinary amount of vitality and passion.
Buckler: “I wrote the lyrics after a restless period eating up the better part of my late 20s. A play of coincidence shaped my life, only to wake up realising it all didn’t feel right. It was a time of big changes with some old friendships and relationships coming to an end. Birds Of Choice is about looking for what truly matters and taking control of your own path in life.”
The album’s artwork, which encapsulates the mood and themes of Birds Of Choice, was created by Benoit Vangeel, from the pictures of Ilo Meeze, whose style brings a striking visual narrative to the album.
In the fall of 2025 The Radar Station will take their album on stage, passing by different venues in Belgium. With drummer Robbe Broeckx, bassist Toon Rumen, and percussionist Wes Verschoren rounding out the lineup, The Radar Station has evolved far beyond the band you first heard in 2020. The band is ready to showcase their growth. Whether you're an early fan or just discovering them for the first time, Birds Of Choice will speak to anyone looking for something real, exciting and alive.

More About The Radar Station
The band emerged in 2017 from the musical collaboration between brothers Brent Buckler (vocals, guitar) and Sander Cliquet (guitar, backing vocals, synths), creating a distinctive blend of indie rock with cinematic soundscapes. Their sound has always been full of ambition, intensity and raw emotion - drawing inspiration from artists like The National, The War on Drugs, Sam Fender, Nick Cave and Big Thief.
In 2020, they won De Nieuwe Lichting, Belgium’s top music contest, launching their debut album Life Inside A Tornado, which gained press attention from Le Soir, De Standaard, Focus Knack, Humo, Het Nieuwsblad - and hit the airwaves on stations like Studio Brussel, Radio 1, Willy and Radio 2. With sold out shows at venues like AB, Trix and Het Depot and appearances at festivals including Dranouter and Labadoux, The Radar Station made its mark in the Belgian indie scene.
