The Radar Station's new album "Birds of Choice" is out now

The Radar Station returns after five years with a second album called 'Birds of Choice'. The biggest difference compared to their debut 'Life Inside A Tornado'? 'Birds of Choice’ had to sound determined, because that’s how I came out of the haze of my depression. For too long I let myself drift along with life’s coincidences, but now I’m grabbing life with both hands. This is a new beginning. I’m excited about it.” - Front singer Brent Buckler explains.

The Radar Station band emerged in 2017 from the musical collaboration between brothers Brent Buckler (vocals, guitar) and Sander Cliquet (guitar, backing vocals, synths), creating a distinctive blend of indie rock with cinematic soundscapes. Their sound has always been full of ambition, intensity and raw emotion - drawing inspiration from artists like The National, The War on Drugs, Sam Fender, Nick Cave and Big Thief.

In 2020, they won De Nieuwe Lichting, Belgium’s top music contest, launching their debut album Life Inside A Tornado, which hit the airwaves on stations like Studio Brussel, Radio 1, Willy and Radio 2. With sold out shows at venues like AB, Trix and Het Depot and appearances at festivals including Dranouter and Labadoux, The Radar Station made its mark in the Belgian indie scene.

Songs like Where Will You Go? and January Colours, capture a band embracing change. Each track is its own journey, blending Cliquet’s expansive sonic landscape with introspective lyrics by Buckler, whose unique warm voice infuse the songs with an extraordinary amount of vitality and passion.

Buckler: “I wrote the lyrics after a restless period eating up the better part of my late 20s. A play of coincidence shaped my life, only to wake up realising it all didn’t feel right. It was a time of big changes with some old friendships and relationships coming to an end. Birds Of Choice is about looking for what truly matters and taking control of your own path in life.”

The album’s artwork, which encapsulates the mood and themes of Birds Of Choice, was created by Benoit Vangeel, from the pictures of Ilo Meeze, whose style brings a striking visual narrative to the album.

With drummer Robbe Broeckx, bassist Toon Rumen, and percussionist Wes Verschoren rounding out the lineup, The Radar Station has evolved far beyond the band you first heard in 2020. See below for all tour dates.
