The Vain Travail's debut album 'after a silent disaster' will be released on November 19th

The Vain Travail will release their debut album 'After a Silent Disaster' on Friday November 19th. The album consists of 10 songs that tell one story together. About a world after a disaster: from a broken heart to a post-nuclear situation. Or a pandemic. The single on the album is 'Ghost Light'. The members of The Vain Travail are household names in the music industry; they performed with well known Dutch artists and bands such as Sevdaliza, Navarone, Her Majesty, Hennie Vrienten and Red Limo String Quartet (who have played with Eddie Vedder, among others). In between all those busy tour schedules they also worked on The Vain Travail from 2019 onwards. Their music is for fans of Radiohead, Motorpsycho, Wilco, Patrick Watson, Jeff Buckley, ELO and Elbow.

In the past three years, they did not meet all together, not even once. They held writing- and recording sessions with two or three members at a time, sending each other ideas online and complementing one another from their own studios. After more than a year, they had twelve promising demos, which could possibly form a concept album together. But then corona came, after which the entire music industry came to a screeching halt, but The Vain Travail kept on working on their music and the intensity of their working method became stronger and stronger.

This resulted in the album 'after a silent disaster'; a mosaic of a collapsed world. An album that is not about the dull misery itself, but about the shape you can give it as a person. It is about how and where the light enters during dark days, which can comfort itself. The single on the album is 'Ghost light' a "ghost song" about a contemporary horror scenario: the dead come to life and hold up a mirror to us about our own failure.
