The Vices releases Before It Might Be Gone

After several sold-out Dutch club tours, a sold-out Paradiso, their own festival called ViceFest, and a tour of 25 shows in America, Dutch revelation The Vices are ready for their new adventure with ‘Before It Might Be Gone’.

Before It Might Be Gone is a raw and honest self-reflection from someone confronting themselves. The album is a journey of transformation, encompassing all the facets that come with it. How do you come to terms with who you’ve been in the past? How do you discover who you want to be? Change can bring feelings of hope and happiness, but to get there, you first have to take a hard look in the mirror. It’s a quest for personal happiness, calmness, and acceptance in an incomprehensible and unjust world. While The Vices’ previous albums focused on societal events in the world around them, *Before It Might Be Gone* delves into deeply personal themes.

Your personal struggles are undeniably tied to the rest of this often incomprehensible world,” say The Vices. “There’s a social pressure to always be better than everyone else and to do everything right. And if you make a mistake, you’ve got a problem. But what is right and what is wrong? Doesn’t everyone deserve more than one chance? What is true forgiveness? And should you care about your own opinion or those of the people closest to you?” Ultimately, it leads to a shifting perspective on how to live a life. You need to feel the bad to find your way back to the good. The members of The Vices faced this challenge and processed it in the album. Just in time, Before It Might Be Gone..

The Vices deliver a contrasting mix of Britpop, Indie, Psychedelic Blues, and Surf Rock. Imagine the love child of The Strokes and Cage the Elephant, with live energy reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers back when Flea still had hair. Those are some big names, but above all, The Vices are unapologetically themselves. With childlike playfulness and intensely serious riffs, the band transitions seamlessly between tight explosiveness and danceable grooves. Following multiple sold-out club tours across the Netherlands and a European tour with Nothing But Thieves, the band is ready for their new adventure with Before It Might Be Gone, set to release on 7 February.

The Vices are four guys bound by a special friendship. They’re completely different from one another, but in this band, that’s their strength. Diverse backgrounds can clash and spark friction, but in the case of The Vices, they inspire and motivate. You can hear this in the sound of Before It Might Be Gone. From 80’s synths to blues rock, through techno and back to Britpop, nothing is off-limits for them.
