This was WECANDANCE 2014

With approximately 8000 visitors on Saturday 09/10/14 and 4000 festival entries on Sunday 10/08/14 the WCD organisation reviews the second edition of WECANDANCE festival in Zeebrugge as a great accomplishment and an even bigger success.

The weather on Saturday 09/08/14 - a blue and sunny sky - welcomed an enthusiastic crowd who warmly embraced this years festival theme - The Ancient Egypt & Memphis Style - a fact that translated itself by the growing attendees and their festival attire.

On Sunday 10/08/14 WCD was challenged with a grimier weather type, a risk that comes with organising a festival by the sea. The festival organisation was prepared for different emergency scenarios and ready to react accordingly due to the help and close collaboration of the local fire and police departments.

After a few heavy rain showers the wind came up very strong which resulted in the preventively closing of the main tent at approximately 16h, a preventive measure made together with the local fire and police department. At around 17h the decision was made to also preventively close down a second (tent) stage - and following to that - the tent that sheltered the WCD Food Market.

Nonetheless the preventive closing of three tents, the #WCD14 festival visitor didn’t let weather, rain or wind spoil the fun and flocked together to the open air stages, where they partied the final hours of the festival in unity.

The festival was also honoured by a visit from the Bruges city mayor Renaat Landuyt and councillor of Events Annick Lambrecht. The second edition of this festival ended with a stunning sunset, a powerful music line-up, and an amazing crowd who reacted with great enthusiasm to the core pillars of WCD; Music, Fashion & Food.

At only two years of age, WECANDANCE festival acknowledges that there are still growing pains, and just like last year the organisation will strongly review the different levels and pillars of the festival whether it’s organisation, communication, e-ticketing, visitor reception, production set- up, sound, safety, a strict anti-drug policy, festival comfort, camping and on-site customer service. WCD aims to learn and act accordingly the following years to come.

WECANDANCE is it’s own biggest critique and is looking forward to grow with our creative and productional crew, festival visitors, fashion and food partners, media relations and day one supporters.

Thank you and we look forward to see you all next year for #WCD15
