Verve Remixed Continues Its Year Of Nina Celebration With “Baltimore (Live) (Supershy Remix)”

Today, Verve Records released the latest installment in its Year of Nina campaign, with “Baltimore (Live) (Supershy Remix)”. Originally written as a poignant political letter to 1970’s Baltimore, the track is now reintroduced from a fresh electronic perspective by British musician Tom Misch under his Supershy alias. Verve Remixed is ushering in a new generation of artists to reinterpret Nina Simone’s venerable catalog for contemporary audiences. Supershy’s take on “Baltimore” leans into a deeper, hypnotic groove. “Baltimore is one of my favourite Nina Simone records so it was really special to have the opportunity to remix the live version of it. I wanted to take it into a deeper territory and am really pleased with how it came together. Hope you guys enjoy it,” says Supershy.

This year marks Verve’s 70th anniversary, honoring the label’s enduring influence on music and culture with new installments arriving monthly through the fall, as well as a compilation vinyl to round out the year. Contributors include Mochakk, DESIREE, Austin Millz, dublon, Supershy, Antdot, and more — each bringing their own interpretation to Nina Simone’s legendary recordings.

Tom Misch is a British musician, producer, and songwriter from South London. He first gained attention through a series of independently released tracks and went on to release his debut album Geography in 2018. He has collaborated with artists including Yussef Dayes, De La Soul, Loyle Carner, and GoldLink. His work spans multiple genres, incorporating elements of jazz, soul, hip-hop, and electronic music. In addition to his solo work, Misch releases music under the alias Supershy, a project focused on electronic production.
