Alternative band DAYTIME TV announce the release of their forthcoming EP ‘Island.’ on 3 May via Kartel Music Group. Produced by Ross Hamilton (Buzz Killer), the EP is a real statement of intent for the four-piece and sees their sound soar to new heights. Pre-order ‘Island.’ on both digital and physical formats HERE.

“‘Island.’ is an EP centred around escapism and defiance. Moving against the things that slow us down and chip away at us. Releasing ourselves from ‘the way you’re meant to do things’ in 2024 and being free both in our minds and in our music.

The idea of just being a standard rock band is really boring to us. We want to bend genres and cross borders with these songs, not play it safe. We wanted to have some of those nostalgic 80s tones in there amongst some real ‘future’ sounding stuff that won’t be as familiar to people. That’s kind of been our ethos for this EP and it’s landed us exactly where we want to be”, comments vocalist and guitarist Will Irvine.

As a taste of what to expect, DAYTIME TV share their colossal new track ‘Fear’ today. The track navigates catastrophic thinking and self-doubt. Listen to ‘Fear’ HERE. Watch the video HERE.

Will adds “Writing can easily become quite a brutal cycle of second guessing ourselves through fear of getting the next step wrong and halting the progress. Sometimes creatively, you get caught up with the fear of the consequences of your actions and become afraid to make any move at all. You find your brain subconsciously putting up barriers for yourself which ends up as this kind of creative paralysis. In writing ‘Fear’ we’ve freed ourselves from that feeling by writing about it. It was like we realised what was holding us back from making our best music and had to face the fear to overcome it".

Spread between Scotland, the Midlands and South England, DAYTIME TV released their debut album "nothing’s on but everyone’s watching" in 2022. Recorded with GRAMMY®-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Twin Atlantic, Lower Than Atlantis), the LP gave DAYTIME TV the opportunity to take their sound to new heights, boasting an incredible fusion of gargantuan alt-rock with undeniably contagious and feel good choruses. The record gathered support and accolades from DORK, Rock Sound, The Scotsman & more.

More recently, last year saw DAYTIME TV tour Europe & the UK extensively supporting Circa Waves, Kaiser Chiefs, The View, Blue October alongside a handful of festivals including a main stage slot at Kendal Calling. Along the way, they released singles ‘Waves’ and ‘Block Out The Noise’ which landed support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Scotland, Kerrang!, idobi, Amazing Radio, plus more.

Other achievements include sharing stages with Two Door Cinema Club, Pearl Jam, The Wombats and The Amazons, plus TRNSMT, Mad Cool and Y Not Festival. DAYTIME TV’s next port of call will be a handful of shows with Feeder in March, with further tour dates to be announced soon.
