PIXELYNX, the music metaverse gaming platform founded by deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) and Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), has partnered with legendary electronic music label Spinnin’ Records to launch a crowd-sourced remix competition pegged to the release of Joel Corry and Ron Carroll’s new song “Nikes.” Offering a contemporary take on Ron Carroll’s silky smooth “Walking Down The Street,” Corry’s new release pairs a succulent and swaggy house beat with an undeniably contagious hook. Prime for everything from the dancefloor and radiowaves to playlists and social content, Joel Corry & Ron Carroll’s “Nikes” is lined up for a March 10th release on Tiësto’s very own Musical Freedom, with an accompanying music video to drop on March 22nd.

The remix competition is hosted by CYPHER, a virtual music artist that lives and performs in PIXELYNX’s flagship game ELYNXIR, and is fractionally owned as an NFT by a small community within ELYNXIR. From March 22nd, 2023 through April 7th, 2023, aspiring DJs can compete for the chance to have their “Nikes” remix released on Spinnin’ Records by submitting their work through the PIXELYNX Discord server. A committee of Spinnin’ Records and ELYNXIR community members will vote on their top 5 favorite submissions, to be announced on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023. CYPHER’s group of fractional owners on the ELYNXIR platform will then have the final say in selecting the winning remix, which will be announced on Friday, April 14th. Both the ELYNXIR community and Spinnin’ fans will also have the opportunity to co-create the official music video of the winning remix through a series of quests and challenges within PIXELYNX’s discord. The final video will be premiered at the International Music Summit in Ibiza, Spain in addition to being uploaded on the Spinnin’ Records Youtube channel.

“Nikes” sees UK tastemaker Joel Corry continue his meteoric rise to the top, building on the momentum from his game-changing 2022 – a year that saw him debut on the mainstage of Tomorrowland, enter DJMag’s coveted Top 100, and conquer the charts through head-turning releases like “HISTORY” with Becky Hill, "What Would You Do" alongside David Guetta & Bryson Tiller, and even a remix of Elton & Britney's smash "Hold Me Closer." Now amping up for his debut at the sun-soaked Ultra and Miami Music Week, Joel Corry continues to bring the beat, this time in the form of the bass-heavy “Nikes.” A proper follow-up to his late 2022 hit “Lionheart,” “Nikes” sees Joel flip the script yet again, switching focus from stadium anthems to fan-favorite DJ weapon.

Corry fans can further engage with the “Nikes” remix competition by participating in an AR-powered virtual scavenger hunt, happening in the ELYNXIR app during Miami Music Week from March 21, 2023, through March 26, 2023. ELYNXIR players will have the opportunity to search for and collect Spinnin’ Records collectibles in the ELYNXIR game, powered by Niantic Lightship AR technology.

“‘Nikes’ has been a weapon in my club sets for months and I'm buzzing to release it officially,” says Corry. “Ron Carroll's original 'Walking Down The Street' is a banger and I hope people love my spin on it. I’m even more excited to hear what ELYNXIR community members come up with as part of our remix contest!”

“Our goal at PIXELYNX is to facilitate the intersection of music, gaming, web3, and AI to build new opportunities for co-creation between artists and fans,” says Inder Phull, CEO of PIXELYNX. “Now, ELYNXIR community members will have a chance to leverage the power of their community to collectively decide which remix of Joel Corry’s new song will be released as an official Spinnin’ Records track, using decentralized voting mechanisms powered by web3. This first-of-its-kind initiative is a testament to the power that web3 has to give control and autonomy directly to our community, and to democratize opportunities for music creators everywhere.”
