Speaking on the track Mark says, ““Believer” was born from one of those rare occasions when I’m sitting at the piano, and everything outside of that moment just kind of slips and fades away. I sang the lyric “Call me a believer” and I felt a little tingle up the back of my neck. I realized I needed to write this song about resilience. About finding that anchor in yourself that in turn enables you to embody the idea of hope. About how love can give you a feeling of buoyancy and how it is the best hammer you can have to break any walls you feel are bearing down on you.”

Mark (guitar, keys, voice) and Kristina (cello, synths, voice) met twelve years ago in an improvised Montréal rehearsal space when Kristina joined Mark’s solo project. They toured together with Mark’s band numerous times across Canada and Europe, eventually relocating to Berlin, Germany in 2014. After a brief hiatus for other projects, the two teamed up again in 2018 as a duo under their new name KLIFFS and released their first album Temporary Cures in November, 2019.

Kliffs have played some of the most celebrated stages all over Europe and Canada (Olympia Paris; Montreal Jazz Festival; Stuttgart Jazz Open, to name a few) and have been members of Sophie Hunger’s and Agnes Obel’s bands in the past.
