"School is Cool's 'If So' is a song about redemption and new beginnings. Musically it was inspired by New Jack Swing, Omar Souleyman and the output of Real World Records in the early nineties. The video is a light satire of the political climate in Antwerp, the band's hometown. The city's conservative mayor recently made some crooked remarks about Asian immigrants in Belgium. The band wanted to counter that with a lively video showcasing the vibrant and stereotype-defying Asian community. There's no finger-wagging, no angry political statement; just a lot of people having a ball in an oriental supermarket."
