Birdy kondigt albumrelease 'Young Heart'  aan voor 30 april

Birdy brengt vandaag haar gloednieuwe track 'Surrender' uit, de eerste uit haar langverwachte vierde studioalbum 'Young Heart' dat we mogen verwachten op 30 april.

Het is ondertussen vijf jaar geleden dat Birdy haar laatste album 'Beautiful Lies' uitbracht. 'Young Heart' is erg verschillend van dit album uit 2015. Het dramatische 'Beautiful Lies' was een sprookje, terwijl 'Young Heart' een rauw, meer realistisch portret schetst van een artiest die pijn kent en zoekt naar redding.

Hoewel een break van vijf jaar een eeuwigheid lijkt, was het absoluut noodzakelijk voor Birdy om haar tijd te nemen, erop uit te trekken en zichzelf te leren kennen. Ze was uiteindelijk ook maar twaalf toen ze haar doorbraak kende. Ze reisde naar Nashville en L.A. en vond inspiratie bij meesters als Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone enEtta James voor haar nieuwe album.

"I’m so proud of this album, my last record was a lot more theatrical – there was a lot going on, it was a big production. Whereas this is quite stripped back - anything that didn’t need to be there, isn’t. There’s no decoration. This album just feels very personal – I’ve grown up a lot over the past five years and have experienced new things that have shaped my understanding of the world, but also of who I am as an artist. This album means a lot to me - I want to protect it.” Birdy
