Conquer Divide tekenen bij Mascot Records en brengen nieuwe single 'Atonement' uit.

CONQUER DIVIDE en Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group hebben de eerste single “Atonement” van het aankomende studioalbum van de band uitgebracht. Afgelopen weekend had "Octane", van het Amerikaanse radiostation Sirius XM, de primeur tijdens hun viering van Women In Music, en vanaf vandaag kan iedereen de single beluisteren op alle streamingplatformen. Drummer Sam Landa over de nieuwe single “The word atonement is about making reparations; about seeking forgiveness; about feeling sorry for something you’ve done and hoping to make things right. In the context of this song, it’s too late for that - the damage has already been done and there’s no going back. The song tries to capture the feelings of betrayal, of being left high and dry by people who wanted to take the easy way out. The emotions really explode in the breakdown, and the progression mirrors how situations like this can build up in real life. There’s a kind of calm before the storm, and then another sense of calm after. ‘We don’t know who you are’, and we’ve accepted that - just don’t try to come back and beg for forgiveness when you’ve exhausted all of your chances.” Vocalist Kia Castillo voegt daar aan toe: “Touring is hard for a lot of people, and between all the other hardships and straight up bullshit we've been through as a band, it can sometimes be easier to give up rather than stick it out together. This is actually really common in all music groups, because a lot of times people join for the wrong reasons. We have weathered amazing storms as a group, and become best friends in the process; we are all really proud of how far we've come now that the fairweather friends are gone. So, this song goes out to anyone who thinks this life is all fun and games, because at the end of the day it's actually one of the hardest jobs we've ever had.”

De vijfkoppige band afkomstig uit de VS, de UK en Canada heeft een gestage groei doorgemaakt en is uitgegroeid tot een geduchte hardrock act. In 2020, met een nieuwe geheel vrouwelijke line-up bestaande uit Kiarely Castillo (zang), Janel Duarte (zang, bas) Kristen Sturgis (gitaar), Izzy Johnson (gitaar) en Sam Landa (drums), gingen ze de studio in met 2x Grammy-genomineerde producer Tyler Smyth (Falling in Reverse, I Prevail) en 4x RIAA-gecertificeerde gouden platenproducent Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, Of Mice & Men).

Ze keerden terug met een knal en gingen in een meer toegankelijke richting met de release van 'Chemicals', dat door Alt Press Magazine “contender for best hard rock/metalcore crossover of the year” werd genoemd. Het nummer piekte op nummer 23 in de US Billboard rock chart en vergaarde bijna twee miljoen streams op Spotify. Een week later brachten ze een keiharde cover uit van "Bad Guy" van Billie Eilish, die al snel 1,5 miljoen streams verzamelde.

In het voorjaar van 2021 toonde hun volgende release een sterke afwijking van het geluid dat ze op hun debuut hadden laten horen, waarbij ze hun zachtere kant lieten zien met het verrassende poppy nummer 'Messy'. Gitarist Izzy vertelt: Our music over the years has become so versatile. Our next album stays true to our metalcore roots but branches out to softer songs, heavy songs and everything in the middle. We understand that people can have a variety of music tastes (like we do) from pop to metal, why not have it all in one place? There really is something for everyone.”

De groeiende wereldwijde fanbase van Conquer Divide komt voort uit hun kracht als band. Het wordt niet bepaald door geslacht, maar door een oeuvre dat zowel mannen als vrouwen aanspreekt. Dit alles leidde ertoe dat Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group zich aansloot bij Conquer Divide. Een bevestiging dat dit collectief op de voorgrond staat en schouder aan schouder staat met gelijkgestemde muzikanten die de Rockkaders opnieuw definiëren. Ze eren de erfenis van degenen die eerder kwamen, en maken tegelijktijdig een helder statement aan iedereen dat Rock nog leeft in 2022.

We did a lot of introspection and soul-searching about which creative direction to take the band in next, and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on.
