Deadletter brengt 2e single Mother uit in aanloop naar debuutalbum

De Britse band DEADLETTER maakt dansbare post-punk door het ritmische van LCD Soundsystem te combineren met de felheid van The Gang of Four en The Fall. Ze scoorden een indiehit met de track Binge, tourde met met Yard Act, Placebo en Tropical Fuck Storm en stonden in Nederland o.a. op London Calling.

Vorige maand maakte het vijftal bekend dat op 13 september hun langverwachte debuutalbum Hysterical Strength zal verschijnen.

Frontman Zac Lawrence zegt over het 12 tracks tellende album, geproduceerd door Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele):

"The world is brutal but there are cherry trees in blossom. This is the philosophy that underpins DEADLETTER, and our bruising, beautiful debut album Hysterical Strength. It's punishing but there's also fucking beauty out there. It's a record that, right down to its title, relishes the contradictions of modern life. Being able to take something disgusting or disgraceful and make it sound nice through the power of music, that juxtaposition appeals to me.”

Tegelijk met de albumaankondiging verscheen de eerste single Mere Mortal, die door nationale en internationale radiostations enthousiast werd opgepikt.

Afgelopen woensdag verscheen de track Mother, waarover Lawrence zegt: "Mother takes direct inspiration from the Bong Joon Ho film of the same name, but also hones in on the wider idea of motherhood, and the lengths that a mother will go to for their child."
