King Isis lanceert single Dissonance speciaal voor Pride

King Isis heeft hun single Dissonance uitgebracht. De timing van deze single is geen toeval, het komt namelijk uit aan het einde van Pride Month. Het is een viering van jezelf kunnen zijn en mensen om je heen hebben die je volledig accepteren. Je kunt de single hier op Spotify luisteren.

King Isis zegt over de single:

"Dissonance is a song about embracing the differences that make us whole, that make us who we are. It leans into the ‘other,’ a celebration of the pieces of selves that we may feel adverse to or are socially rejected. I've spent a lot of time trying to conform and present in ways that were outside of myself to appease the perceptions of others. So this is a song about being happy and full in my own, however that shows up. It’s embracing the tension and uneasiness in self and communal discovery, just loving yourself fully and those around you who embrace that difference.”

De in Oakland geboren King Isis bracht vorig jaar diens debuut-EP Scales uit, waar alt-pop en minimalistische songs op staan. Dit voorjaar heeft King Isis hun EP Shed uitgebracht waarmee diegenen losbreekt van dit genre en daarmee van het verleden om met opgeheven hoofd de toekomst in te kunnen. De nieuwe muziek heeft een donkerdere en meer grunge-achtige sound wat staat als een huis, waar King Isis tekstueel wel diens kwetsbare kant laat horen die met soulful vocals overgebracht wordt.
