Tommy WÁ kondigt EP aan met single Will You Wait?
De Nigeriaans singer-songwriter Tommy WÁ heeft de komst van zijn nieuwste EP. Hope Our Paths Cross aangekondigd. Deze wordt op 21 augustus verwacht en bevat onder andere zijn nieuwste single Will You Wait?, die deze week is verschenen.
Zijn sound is een warme mix van pop en folk doordrenkt met gospelinvloeden. Wat je hoort in zijn muziek komt onmiskenbaar uit zijn West-Afrikaanse roots. Er zit een puurheid en openhartigheid in zijn songwriting die doet denken aan artiesten als Justin Vernon, Brittany Howard en Michael Kiwanuka.
De tracks op de EP gaan op hun eigen manier over ouder worden, waar WÁ over toelicht:
“These songs were written from that crossroads. They ask what happens when adulthood quietly replaces possibility with responsibility, and whether the people we're meant to align with can still recognise us as we become who we're supposed to be. Hence, Will You Wait? is anchored in intimate details of the journey, asking whether love can sustain or find us while we're still becoming the people we're meant to be.”
