Phil Collins - But Seriously + The Essential Going Back

Vandaag is het einde van de Take A Look At Me Now-campagne. Heruitgaves die een mooi zicht geven op de carrière van Phil Collins. Vandaag besluiten we met de albums But Seriously en The Essential Going Back. But Seriously werd oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in december 1989 en bevat zijn grootste hits zoals Another Day In Paradise. Daarnaast was het één van de best verkopende albums van die tijd. Going Back was de grote terugkeer van Phil Collins in 2010, acht jaar na het album Testify.

Het album was een terugblik op de soulmuziek die hem zo beïnvloed heeft, hierbij kreeg hij de hulp van de nog overlevende The Funk Brothers. Phil Collins over The Essential Going Back: “I decided to call this version of ‘Going Back’ ‘The Essential Going Back’,” he explains. “In retrospect, I included too much music on the original version, and I believe that too much is not always a good thing. Hence this trimmed down selection of my favourite Motown songs.”
