The Academic kondigt 2e studiealbum aan en brengt nieuwe single uit

De populaire en succesvolle Ierse indie rock band The Academic heeft hun 2e studioalbum Sitting Pretty aangekondigd. De opvolger van Tales From The Backseat uit 2018, dat op nummer 1 in de nationale album chart terecht kwam, verschijnt op 10 februari via EMI.

Tegelijk met de album aankondiging heeft het jonge viertal uit Mullingar, dat grossiert in sterke, energieke en catchy gitaar songs en in Nederland radio hitjes scoorde met Different, Mixtape 2003 en Bear Claws, hun nieuwste single Pushing Up Daisies uitgebracht. “Pushing Up Daisies is our ode to insecurity and ego in equal measure. It tackles the hectic nature of our current circumstances. The ecstatic highs and the unbearable lows of life in you twenties.”

En over het album zelf vertellen ze: “Sitting Pretty is an album about navigating life in your 20s; the uncertainties and the ever-shifting sense of self. It’s about the entrance into true adulthood and how that can alienate you from yourself, making you feel like you’re playing a supporting role in your own life. In one moment feeling 100% certain about everything, only to become overwhelmed with feelings of aimlessness and lack of direction in the next.”
