What a year 2013 was for Balthazar… Following the October 2012 release of their sophomore album Rats, they played 123 (!) European shows in 2013 including their own headline tour, a tour with Local Natives, playing every major summer festival, a very large tour with Editors and 2 MIA nominations (Belgium Music Awards)!
What better way to celebrate the New Year than with new European shows and a brand new single (yes, even while travelling through 21 different countries Balthazar found the time to write some new tunes!)?
Leipzig, a warm whirlwind of a song just under 3 minutes, might be their strongest single yet. A, dare we say it, ‘vintage’ Balthazar sounding track with subtle horns and infectious backings.
“The track was written during our latest euro tour, in Leipzig, recorded on the bus, quickly and to the point,” Jinte Deprez explains. “After only making full albums, making a single song was a whole different experience. Let it be an interlude between Rats and the next album. Here's to 2014!”
