“Hollywood Ending” is a love song for all of us disenchanted children. While writing these lyrics, Guy Keltner was dealing with some pretty significant losses in his life. As we start to age, it’s really common to watch our dreams get broken, and we start to face our mortality. Some people truly expect a “Hollywood Ending” and are met with serious disappointment when they enter their 30s. The Los Angeles landscape and culture is so easily romanticized, yet there is also a loneliness and emptiness to the city that can be really inspiring. “This is the final track on the record, and it is the only slow song. It is the saddest moment amidst a batch of really high-energy, intense rock songs,” explains songwriter Guy Keltner. “It stands out as a great ending to an acid-fueled dance party: the music has been cut, the drugs are wearing off, and now it’s time to go home.”
Acid Tongue is an American garage band heavily influenced by classic soul, punk & psychedelic rock. Formed in a damp Seattle basement in 2015, the band immediately hit the road, extensively touring the US & Europe and refining their unique brand of rock & roll. Consisting of a core duo—singer/songwriter Guy Keltner & drummer/vocalist Ian Cunningham—the band also includes numerous touring & studio musicians scattered between Paris, New York, London, Mexico City, & Los Angeles, with a rotating roster that seems to grow larger by the day.
Acid Tongue’s fourth full-length, Acid on the Dancefloor, showcases their now signature sound and a back-to-basics approach to rock music. The whole record is a childish take on adulthood. Incorporating elements of garage, soul and post-punk, the album is a loud, funky and chaotic acid trip that redefines “the Seattle sound.”
