For ‘Sunrise’, the first single from Golden Glow’s new self-titled album, one guitar and three brilliant voices is all the band needs. It’s their seventh album, the first for Excelsior. After many musical adventures and collaborations, the band returns to basics to produce an honest and pure record as a trio.

Sunrise is a universal symbol of hope, rebirth and new beginnings - immediately the themes of the new album. It’s a sprightly ode to the sun, with a touch of Egyptian mysticism, in a radiantly warm harmony.

The Golden Glows is an acoustic trio that shines like the rising sun. With one guitar and three voices, the group creates surprising pop adventures with a unique, warm polyphony. From the King of the Belgians to Belgium's biggest criminals and everything in between - the band entertains everyone from 7 to 77. In recent years, they have performed on various prestigious stages at home and abroad, but just as well in the café around the corner or at your aunt's golden wedding.

The Antwerp-based band has a wide time horizon. Their music, averse to trends, is a little out of time. Each new songbook taps into a new style, a new theme, a new genre or new collaborators, but thanks to their breathtaking close harmony, always sounds unmistakably like The Golden Glows. On their latest record Sunrise, they opt for purity both musically and lyrically. It is their most personal work to date.

The group played itself a reputation with 'A Songbook from the 20's', a collection of obscure Americana from the 78rpm era. Critical acclaim followed soon after with 'A Folksongbook', in which they explored the historical roots of pop music further with murder ballads and other long-forgotten folk tunes. A first major milestone was 'Prison Songs', a tribute to the famous American musicologist Alan Lomax, who was also featured at the very first edition of Into The Great Wide Open. The original tribute concert with male choir was voted Top 3 at the concert temple Ancienne Belgique, where the band performed just about every year. They would also become Artist in Residence there to work on a commission around The Anthology of American Folkmusic, by that other giant Harry Smith. In 2023, they played a double concert with the acclaimed Mount Eerie on his 100th birthday.

Increasingly, arrangements of existing material gave way to their own work. The band produced 'Afterglow', a 20-minute short film with an impressive orchestral soundtrack. Their latest achievement was 'On Moonlight and Rain', a sample of prog rock based on 18th-century Japanese ghost stories. 'Sunrise' is the band's seventh album, the first for Excelsior. After many musical adventures and collaborations, the band returns to basics to produce an honest and pure record as a trio.
