Amber Arcades signs to Heavenly Recordings - shares new song
Amber Arcades, the moniker of Dutch musician Annelotte de Graaf, has signed to Heavenly Recordings. Today she unveils the first cut from her forthcoming debut album, due in Spring 2016. With a motoric rhythm and ethereal vocals, ‘Turning Light’ was recorded in New York with producer Ben Greenberg (The Men, Beach Fossils, Destruction Unit) and is the first music shared since the release of her debut EP, Patiently, last Autumn. Annelotte says of the new song: "I was heavily jetlagged throughout the album recording process and kept waking up at 5am. One day I went to the studio early and Keven (Lareau, who plays bass on the recordings) was there already too. He was jamming out on this krautrocky bassline and I'd been playing with this melody in my head for a while which happened to fit over it perfectly. We wrote the track in an hour, then when Ben came into the studio we recorded it, also in an hour. I wrote the lyrics the next morning when I was again awake way too early. I think this half awake/half still dreaming energy definitely seeped into this track."
Amber Arcades performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival in The Netherlands last weekend, and will also appear at this year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas. Details of her debut album are to be revealed soon.
