Áslaug announces debut EP - Out March 20

On ‘Áslaug’, the Utrecht based singer will draw you into four of her personal stories. She points out one of the many diseases of her generation, she shows her vulnerability, the anger and frustration that occur when a love comes to an end. The EP contains quite a bit of depth; Áslaug explains that it’s rather daunting when you realise that you are fully responsible for your own life. It can feel lonely at times, yet the next day you can feel powerful and independent again. Being born in a time and country where you can have and be whatever you want just raises more questions; what do I want? In this search, Áslaug tries to answer the questions by making them into art.

Artist and songwriter Áslaug came into view just a few months ago, but the Icelandic-Dutch singer has been working on her debut for years. Inspired by artists such as The Japanese House, HAIM and Lykke Li, Áslaug introduces her own sound; serious subjects combined with dreamy synth pop filled with catchy hooks.

Her debut single "Take From Me" made an incredible start. In addition to the already gained national success, Áslaug managed to put herself on the international map. For example; Spotify placed the track in eleven New Music Friday playlists, well-known blogs such as "Line of Best Fit" and "Spindle Mag" picked up the song and wrote praising words. She was one of the most acclaimed acts of Popronde festival 2019 and was named ‘3FM Talent’ by one of the largest Dutch national radio stations. Playing the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival last January was inevitable with big media outlets such as 3voor12, Metro and NU.nl naming Áslaug as one of the most promising artists of 2020.

“So you want to see the light?”. 2019 was just the beginning, 2020 is the year that will be all about Áslaug.
