Áslaug releases debut single and new video
Today marks the release of the utterly captivating new single from Áslaug. The Netherlands based singer, songwriter and producer – who has Icelandic roots – pours her heart-stoppingly soulful style into ‘Take From Me,’ which sits alongside an official video. It's the first single taken from her forthcoming self-titled EP, due for release in January via V2 Records. Áslaug Vigfúsdóttir (born on August 11th, 1993) is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and music producer born in The Netherlands. Áslaug’s music is characterized by dynamic 80s drums, polyphonic vocal arrangements, and synths, inspired by artists as The Japanese House, HAIM, MUNA, and Lykke Li.
Áslaug muses: “This song is the essence of who I am as an artist, both musically as well as lyrically. For the past few years I’ve grown into a person that I actually like. The process of writing this specific song has played a big part in that growth. To me, ‘Take From Me’ is about independence, about standing up for yourself, about being true to your own beliefs and about trusting your gut. It has been a long time coming, but I can’t wait for people to hear this one.”
