Chutney and Soca Queens Drupatee and Destra Team for “Wuk Yuh Waist”

Chutney queen Drupatee teams with soca queen Destra Garcia for the new chutney soca hit “Wuk Yuh Waist,” now available worldwide from all major digital retailers (released on February 12, 2016), from FOX FUSE. The spicy collaboration boasts classic chutney or Indo-Caribbean flavors, infused with upbeat soca sounds, and was released for the 2016 Trinidad Carnival season, which just culminated in Trinidad and Tobago. This also marks Drupatee’s first release under her new digital distribution deal with FOX FUSE, which will bring her full catalog to the internationally masses, for the very first time.

Trinidadian entertainer Drupatee Ramgoonai is the femme fatale of chutney music and has been the reining queen of this niche genre for decades, earning fans far and wide. Destra Garcia, known as the Queen of Bacchanal, has been on the frontline of soca music for over a decade now. This meeting of two bonafide queens of their respective genres spawn a classic tune for the times, much to the delight of both chutney and soca fans everywhere.

“Wuk Yuh Waist” was produced by Trinidadian chutney hit-maker Big Rich of D Pungalunks Factory and catapulted Drupatee into the finals of the 2016 Chutney Soca Monarch competition, which was recently held in Trinidad. Drupatee has always experimented with other genres, collaborating with the likes of soca king Machel Montano on “Indian Gyal” and calypso icon Crazy for “Nani Wine Remix,” and continues to evolve chutney music and bring the niche genre to new ears, globally.
