Dillion: new album 'Kind' out 10/11

Before her 2014 sophomore album 'The Unknown' Dillon suffered from writer’s block, which she was only able to outwrite through an intense act of self-discipline. Thematically, 'The Unknown' is the continuation of Dillon’s debut yet their writing and production processes could not have had less in common. Since first consciously working on an album, during the production of her debut, and in hindsight referring to the production of her second album as agonising, Dillon’s third album 'Kind' sees it all come together. "Writing is a maddening challenge for me", says Dillon, "Voluntary torture. Finishing a poem is satisfying, yet the way there can be extremely draining".This time things were somewhat different. "Before the production of the album began, I had intuitively assembled a collection of ideas", she says. "For the first time in years, I was able to approach my music with a certain lightness again." The actual studio production began in December 2016, and from then on, moved on fairly quickly. Dillon realised she had been dealing with the core of the album for longer than anticipated and the lyrics had, to a large extent, already been written. With time the words had sprouted out of her.

'Kind' is the third Dillon album, set for release this fall. Her most coherent work is also the most intense, the most mature Dillon record to date. For the moment, it appears, the Brazilian artist has ultimately found herself.
