Dutch singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Inge Lamboo is about to embark on a new phase in her career. On May 30, 2025, she will release her highly anticipated second album, ‘This Is How The Future Sounds,’ through V2 Records, featuring a collaboration with none other than legendary Who guitarist, Pete Townshend. That same evening, she will present the album live at EKKO, Utrecht, marking the start of her new tour. Scroll down for video footage with Pete Townshend and listen to ‘Call Out Your Name’ here.
Lamboo gained recognition through her unique mashups and covers on social media, catching the attention of artists like Lindsey Buckingham, P!NK, and YUNGBLUD. With millions of views on TikTok and Instagram, she has built a loyal fanbase. On her new album, she combines country-pop with contemporary pop and embraces nostalgic-sounding songs. Producers such as Jan Schröder, Simon Gitsels, Niels van der Wielen, and Radboud Miedema have helped her achieve this sound. Tracks like ‘Call Out Your Name,’ ‘Higher,’ and ‘Bleed’ showcase her growth both as an artist and a producer.
A special collaboration on the album is with Pete Townshend. After one of her mashups went viral on Instagram, where she reimagined Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Do I Wanna Know’ in a Fleetwood Mac style, Inge caught the attention of the legendary guitarist of The Who. What started as a spontaneous online interaction grew into a remarkable musical connection. After several conversations via Instagram and email, Inge suggested that Pete record a guitar take for her new track ‘Call Out Your Name.’ Townshend immediately expressed interest and experimented with different guitar sounds to perfectly blend his iconic style with Inge’s sound. The result is a powerful and dynamic track that merges his iconic playing with Inge’s emotional songwriting. This collaboration not only showcases Inge’s versatility as an artist but also proves how music can bridge generations.
On March 30, Inge will visit Pete and meet him at The Who’s show at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Inge will present Pete with the 7” single of ‘Call Out Your Name,’ which will be released on April 12 for Record Store Day. Elton John has already received the single through Pete Townshend and is enthusiastic. “It was an honour to be asked to play guitar on one of Inge Lamboo’s new tracks. I follow her work on Instagram and she is making terrific Indie-style music with some really smart twists. The guitar work on her tracks is perfectly wonderful without me, so I decided to throw some mud at the wall – in the old ‘60s style, and amazingly it worked. Inge is a special talent, we should ALL look out for her.” - Pete Townshend
