Steven Wilson release a new single
Steven Wilson has released a new track from his forthcoming album Requiem For A Village today (26th October 2026).
A Basket Of Bees is bucolic folk music played as the day turns, with darkness creeping in around the edges. The track’s spiral of guitars and voices initially swirl and swoop like flecks of dust in fading sunlight, before they give way to a pounding rock’n’roll band who up the pace as the track plays on. This is music for rituals, straight from the heart of the British countryside.
A Basket Of Bees is the third track from Steven Wilson’s incredible ninth album Requiem For A Village. The video is part of a series of “Village Hall Sessions”, which sees tracks from the album recreated in an appropriately retro studio environment by Steven, Randy McStine and Russell Holzman, and all captured on film by regular collaborator Miles Skarin (The Overview).
Following the release of Requiem For A Village on 6th November 2026, Steven will take part in a very special one-off event in London to help tell the story behind the album.
On Tuesday 10th November, Steven will sit down with Al Murray (The Pub Landlord) for an evening’s conversation at the Bush Hall (310 Uxbridge Road, Shepherd’s Bush, W12 7LJ) hosted by Rough Trade. The pair will talk about Requiem For A Village and the wider world that the album sits in. Al Murray has been a fan of Steven Wilson’s since Porcupine Tree, and has previously described himself as ‘completely beguiled’ by Steven's work in interviews. After the talk, Steven Wilson will sign copies of Requiem For A Village.
A folk horror masterpiece that confidently defies genre, Requiem For A Village focuses on a tiny, unknown corner buried somewhere off map in the British Isles. The story steps back from the modern world and ventures into the unfamiliar, settling in a village that exists beyond time and place. With an Andy Partridge written narration read by David Tennant, the album tells that village’s story.
