Hercules & Love Affair Release Video for "Someone Else Is Calling"

Hercules & Love Affair today share the official video for “Someone Else Is Calling,” the lead single from Andy Butler’s forthcoming EP of the same name, out December 14 via StrataSonic Records. The EP, created with Paranoid London’s Quinn Whalley and Icelandic vocalist Elín Ey, marks Butler’s long-awaited return to the dancefloor, fusing tactile acid house with classic vocal-house emotion.

Directed and co-starring Tatsumi Milori, the video is a vivid, narrative portrait of Mexico City’s queer community. Shot across Xochimilco, Centro, and intimate indoor spaces, it follows Milori, Elín Ey, and a cast of friends and collaborators through moments of dancing, rehearsing, laughing, and moving through the city together. The result is a storytelling collage that captures the EP’s spirit: ecstatic, shadowy, communal, and deeply human.

“For me, this project just appeared out of nowhere, like I manifested it,” says Milori. “I heard the track for the first time in the shower and immediately started dancing. It’s this dreamy, ethereal vocal over a dark, goth-y beat. Filming in Mexico with a crew of incredible femmes and theys felt like making a little queer family.”

The video’s setting was a deliberate choice rooted in Butler’s long relationship with Mexico. “Mexico has had a profound impact on me,” he says. “The beauty, the fighting spirit, the warmth—I’ve played some of my most loving shows there. Shooting the video in Mexico City felt like honoring that energy.”

“Someone Else Is Calling” began during sessions in Iceland, where Butler and Elín Ey were working on material for Ey’s Hips & Lips project. Ey, who appeared on the fourth and fifth Hercules albums, steps into a new role here, delivering vocals that move from roaring dancefloor catharsis to emotional release. “Elín’s voice is one of the purest, most magical voices I’ve worked with,” Butler says. “We have a special ability to write together.”

The EP also marks Butler’s first collaboration with Quinn Whalley (Paranoid London / Decius), whose influence can be felt in the acid backbone of the title track and across the project’s techno–meets–house DNA. “To say I love Quinn wouldn’t be adequate,” Butler adds. “He’s always looking for the next twist in a song — working with him was a total joy.”

The full Someone Else Is Calling EP, a four-tracker, will arrive following Hercules & Love Affair’s first run of live shows in seven years, a revival of the project’s signature blend of queer energy, emotional intensity, and club euphoria.
