Jacques Greene announces third studio album "jg", out 16 October

Today, Jacques Greene announces his new album, jg, out October 16 on LUCKYME, alongside the release of lead single “Presence.”

Preceded by “What You Say,” with labelmate umru, and “Closer” with DJ BORING, jg is Jacques' third studio album, yet marks the first long play record built unapologetically for the dancefloor. In the midst of personal upheaval and a turbulent world, he found himself returning to the people and places that gave him a sense of purpose, resulting in an album that reaches toward joy and hopefulness. Jacques shares, “This record moves away from concepts and follows an intuition for places where I wanted to be and where I would be wanted.”

Following the critically acclaimed hazy, collaborative world of Verses GT with Nosaj Thing (Pitchfork, Clash, RA), jg strips away much of the abstraction to reveal the sharpest expression of Jacques Greene to date. The album’s collaborations stem from the organic relationships within Jacques’ orbit. “The track with Noah [SEES00000] is here because I love it, but also because we walked from his studio to get Sonoran tacos and talked about life.”

Montreal-born producer Jacques Greene has been making effervescent dance music for over fifteen years. Since his global breakthrough hit “Another Girl”, and over the course of multiple EPs, singles, and two full-length albums (2017’s Feel Infinite and 2019’s Dawn Chorus) Greene has developed a sound designed to inject a heart-on-sleeve poignancy to dancefloors across the world. His 2025 collaboration with labelmate Nosaj Thing, Verses GT, was a project about “betting on headspace”: like the memory of a club record, tumbling drums are obscured under layers of haze and stuttering sequences.

Outside of his own releases, Greene has explored his relationship with the club in a variety of contexts, from the collaboration with Bonobo on “Fold”, to remixing Radiohead, to producing for Jessy Lanza, Tinashe, and touring with The xx.

ARTIST QUOTE

“In many ways, my first two records were music about the club. This one is in the club.

The last few years, between being firmly back outside, and finding a specific club music POV from the RinseFM residency, a proper “Club Music” album was born. The album is less of a euphoric rush from the pleasure center, and more an aspirational hedonism: pleasure I may conjure into my life like a magic spell.

Through personal crises and international turmoil, turning to friends, community and the essence of something that has brought me not only pleasure but meaning and a sense of place has felt crucial. The multiple collaborations on this record came about organically from an arsenal of supremely talented, kind, generous people.

On jg, a sense of urgency is in lockstep with the joy and release of the breakdowns. After stripping away a ton of filters and reverbs, a more direct, sometimes intense, collection of work emerged.

It’s me, it’s jg.”
