Then Comes Silence 'Judgement Day' - new single by Swedish post-punk/goth trio out 7th August 2026 | from the album 'Requiem Ballroom' out 20th November 2026

Long held in high regard for a sound that is a modern and unique take on classic goth and post-punk, Swedish trio Then Comes Silence have released a brand new single entitled ‘Judgement Day’ today (7th August). It is the first to be lifted from 'Requiem Ballroom’, their new studio album out on 20th November.

“This song is about failure, bad decisions and poor behaviour - those who will be the first in line on doomsday,” the band explain. Beginning with a catchy Euro techno melody, the surprising intro creates a contrast to the band’s established roots from the outset and serves as a metaphor for the theme of the song. The band itself ‘fails’ by letting something completely unexpected and out of character take over.

‘Requiem Ballroom' will be the follow-up to ‘Trickery’, the seventh full-length album by Then Comes Silence released in 2024. Collecting accolades galore, the UK’s Classic Rock magazine described it as “the post-punk influence of Bauhaus or Joy Division offset by an '80s windblown, cinematic sense of drama presented with silky production and confidence.” Vive Le Rock concurred, remarking on its "huge, spectral sound that cascades the post-punk genres seamlessly whilst delivering a unique and compelling sound that is as captivatingly gripping as it is intense.”

Founded in Stockholm, Sweden by vocalist/bassist Alex Svenson, Then Comes Silence have established themselves as one of the leading names in today’s goth, post-punk and darkwave scenes. Driven by a fascination with horror, the occult and the raw intensity of underground music, the band forged a distinctive sound that quickly found a devoted international following.

Early support from Germany's post-punk scene helped turn that territory into a second home, laying the foundation for years of relentless touring across Europe and beyond. Following three independently released albums, the group signed to Nuclear Blast for the release of ‘Blood’ (2017), expanding their global reach and cementing their reputation as one of the scene’s hardest working bands.

Over the years, Then Comes Silence have shared stages with acts such as Fields Of The Nephilim, Clan of Xymox, The Chameleons and A Place To Bury Strangers. They have also performed at many of Europe’s premier alternative festivals, including M’era Luna, Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Amphi Festival, Castle Party, Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival and W-Festival. Their journey has also included albums released via Metropolis Records that have further strengthened their international presence.

Since 2022, the band has operated as a tightly focused trio featuring Svenson, drummer Jonas Fransson and guitarist Hugo Zombie. Together they have refined Then Comes Silence into its most direct, powerful and uncompromising form.
