Born and raised in East London, J HUS first started rapping in primary school. Inspired by the likes of Skepta and the burgeoning UK grime scene around him, he released his “15th Day” mixtape in July 2015. Spawning street anthems “No Lie” and “Dem Boy Paigon”, the mixtape won critical acclaim from the likes of Noisey, Complex and i-D, and earned J HUS a nomination for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2015 MOBO awards. Follow-up single and Black Butter debut “Lean & Bop”, was released in October 2015 and has been streamed over 11 million times to date. 2016 saw the release of viral hit “Friendly”, and at the start of this year J HUS provided the scene-stealing hook on “Bad Boys”, taken from Stormzy’s UK #1 album “Gang Signs & Prayer”.
