ABGT700: Above & Beyond Brave the Elements for Unforgettable Return to The Gorge

Above & Beyond returned to Washington State’s spectacular Gorge Amphitheatre on September 11-13 for ABGT700, bringing nearly 20,000 members of the Anjunafamily together for three days of music from across the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep worlds.

It was a weekend that ultimately became about much more than the music.

On Saturday, high winds sweeping through The Gorge forced organizers to temporarily pause the event for approximately three hours while conditions were monitored and the venue was made safe. When the show finally resumed, Above & Beyond took the stage in the rain for a set that became one of the weekend's defining moments, bringing together thousands of fans who had waited out the weather to celebrate Group Therapy together.

Now, fans around the world can experience that set in full. Above & Beyond – Group Therapy 700 Live from The Gorge Amphitheatre is available on YouTube and across DSPs, capturing a performance packed with unreleased material and a look at what comes next from both Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats.

The set featured eight brand new Above & Beyond IDs, alongside new music from Anjunabeats artists including Oliver Smith, Genix, Grum and AVNT. CVMRN and station2station also delivered new remixes of two Super8 & Tab classics, while Above & Beyond debuted new versions and unreleased material alongside music from their latest album, ‘Bigger Than All Of Us.’

For the encore, Above & Beyond slowed things down with the first-ever public performance of their new downtempo version of “Sun & Moon” featuring Richard Bedford. Thousands of voices joined together for one final Gorge singalong as the band offered an entirely different interpretation of one of the most enduring songs in their catalog. The new version was officially released two days later on Anjunachill and offers the first glimpse of the forthcoming ‘Anjuna:Chilled 01’ compilation.

The weekend began Friday with a more intimate side of Above & Beyond. In keeping with ABGT milestone tradition, the trio opened the weekend with a special Deep Set, but this time with a difference: for the first time, the set was open to the public, with more than 10,000 fans gathering to watch Above & Beyond debut a selection of brand-new IDs against The Gorge’s dramatic natural backdrop. Nourey, Amy Wiles, and Grum b2b J Ribbon rounded out Friday’s pre-party, setting the stage for the weekend ahead. The full Above & Beyond Deep Set is now available to watch on YouTube and will also be coming to DSPs soon.

Sunday shifted the focus to Anjunadeep Open Air, closing the weekend with Ben Böhmer, Marsh, James Grant & Jody Wisternoff, HANA, Durante b2b Ezequiel Arias, Because Of Art, Leaving Laurel and Rezident.

ABGT700 marked Above & Beyond's first Group Therapy milestone celebration at The Gorge since ABGT250 in 2017, returning to a venue that has become deeply connected to the history of the band and the wider Anjunafamily. Previous ABGT celebrations have taken the band and their community to landmark venues around the world, including Madison Square Garden in New York, Alexandra Palace and Drumsheds in London, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles and, most recently, ABGT600 in Mexico City.

But the ABGT700 story isn't quite finished...

With Saturday's weather interruption cutting Oliver Smith's set short and keeping J Ribbon and ilan Bluestone from performing, Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats will bring all three artists together in London for ABGT700.2 on Thursday, October 29.

The special 700-capacity make-up show will take place at 26 Leake Street, underneath Waterloo Station, the same intimate London space where Above & Beyond debuted Anjunabeats Volume 17 earlier this year.
