Chaka Khan: The music icon returns with her new studio album
Returning With Her First New Studio Album In More Than Seven Years, Featuring Sia, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, and producer Greg Kurstin
The 11-time GRAMMY Award winner, 2026 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee releases CHAKZILLA, a fearless new chapter in her legendary career, out now via EarthSong Records and BMG.
A celebration of power, joy, love, and resilience CHAKZILLA defines one of the most influential voices in modern music at the height of her creative freedom. Co-written by Chaka Khan with collaborator Sia and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Greg Kurstin, who also produced the album, and featuring superstar guest appearances from Sia, Snoop Dogg and Lenny Kravitz. The album is an inspiring and bold artistic statement from an icon who continues to push culture forward.
“This music is about joy. It’s about freedom. It’s about loving yourself, loving each other, and finding your power no matter where you are in life,” says Chaka Khan. “I’ve lived a lot of life since my last record, and I wanted these songs to celebrate that. This music is about being human, feelin’ good, and stepping into our power.”
The project arrives following a series of singles that have introduced the world to CHAKZILLA. The title track, “Chakzilla,” marked her first new music in more than seven years (co-written by Sia and Greg Kurstin), the track mixes her powerhouse vocals with Greg Kurstin’s production and a cinematic video that transformed a skyscraper size monster into a high-glam force of nature and positivity.
“Boogie’s In My Soul,” featuring Snoop Dogg, brought together two cultural icons with an irresistible need to simply boogie. On the personal “Curious Subject,” Chaka turns inward with playful self-awareness of questions, contradictions and curiosity that continue to shape who she is. “Cool You Down,” featuring Sia, is out now along with the album.
Every song on CHAKZILLA was co-written by Chaka Khan, making this one of the most personal and creatively involved projects of her career. The album delivers those well-known vocals of fire and raw honesty that have defined her artistry throughout her life.
“Chaka is the Godzilla of chanteuses alive and it was my honour to collaborate with her on this album!” - Sia
“There’s nothing you can do to ever erase this. It’s in your system, now let it get into your soul.” - Snoop Dogg
“There is no other voice like Chaka, that is the beauty. She is completely unique to the universe, and that’s what it’s all about” - Lenny Kravitz
“It was an honor and a privilege for me to work with Chaka on this project. Having been a long time devoted fan, it was a joy to collaborate with her in the studio. Her voice, so deeply rhythmic and expressive, has always emotionally connected with me as she has with so many people. Chaka is a true professional and she’s also a lot of fun. We had a great time making this album!” - Greg Kurstin

This summer her story and music reached the London stage with I’M EVERY WOMAN: THE CHAKA KHAN MUSICAL, celebrating her life, music and enduring cultural impact.
Chaka remains dedicated the Chaka Khan Foundation, which supports neurodivergent individuals and their families through programming built on music, mindfulness and meditation, including its Beyond 25 initiatives addressing the support gap that opens when age-based eligibility ends in adulthood. The through line between the two, she says, is the same one that runs through her catalog: music as a way in, and a way through. www.chakakhanfoundation.org.
For more than five decades, Chaka Khan’s voice has transcended genres and generations. From her groundbreaking work with Rufus and classics including “Tell Me Something Good,” “Sweet Thing” and “Ain’t Nobody,” to a solo career that produced cultural classics including “I’m Every Woman,” “I Feel for You” and “Through the Fire”. Chaka has created a body of work that helped shape contemporary R&B, funk, soul, pop and dance music and beyond.
Now, Chaka Khan enters her next chapter. A new era of music
